Pharmacists do more than you think

Your local pharmacy is not only the best place to get any prescription medicine but also your first point of call for any clinical advice and minor health concerns.

Laura Barraclough, clinical pharmacist in Wandsworth said: "We can treat things such as coughs, colds, sore throats and ear aches.

Also cystitis, pains, and tummy troubles. We can also help with cutting down on alcohol, quitting smoking, and emergency contraception."

Getting advice from your local pharmacist is the best first step for a minor health condition and if they can’t help in the first instance they will point you in the right direction.

Many pharmacies are open until late and weekends and you do not need to make an appointment – simply walk in.

Most pharmacies have private consultation rooms and you can talk to them confidentially about anything.

Pharmacists are trained experts in managing minor illnesses and using medicines safely.

Don’t put it off, contact your pharmacist and look after yourself now.
